A $500,000 state grant going to Streator will pay for housing rehabilitation for lower income home owners in a qualifying neighborhood. Mayor Tara Bedei says the home owners in that neighborhood will be invited to a public meeting, probably in the next month, to find out how to apply. It’s a grant meant to make a home better for someone to keep living in. And it’s not for landlords.
Bedei says if ten homes are chosen, the owners could get up to $50,000 each for improvements.
