City of LaSalle receives grant to help with curbside recycling program

A $55,500 grant is being given to the city of LaSalle by Recycling Partnership Inc. The city is getting the grant because they are giving residents recycling bins. The city council approved an agreement Monday to join the corporation’s efforts. The corporation is made up of manufactures and fundraisers that want to increase the amount of recycling done in certain cites. Because the city of LaSalle is changing garbage providers next year and giving residents 32-gallon containers, Deputy City Clerk Brent Bader says the city qualified for the grant.

The money from the grant will be put toward the garbage bills that the residents pay in their water bill. Mayor Jeff Grove thanked Bader, City Finance Director John Duncan, and Jim Posey with Republic Services for their work to help the city get the grant.
