The city of Marseilles is asking for $1,679,013 for next year’s tax levy. That’s a 2.3% increase from this year’s levy or about $53,000 more. This year the city asked for about $1,625,488. Commissioner Bobby Kaminski says the city didn’t raise any taxes, but it doesn’t mean a resident’s property taxes won’t go up if they were recently reassessed. Next year’s levy has an $18,000 increase in the city’s retirement fund. Kaminski also mentioned that more money is being asked for in the police pension fund. But there is also a $15,000 decrease in the city’s liability insurance fund. The levy was placed on file Wednesday.
