Illinois Republican St. Sen Jason Barickman of Bloomington won’t be representing southern LaSalle County after all. He announced that he will retire at the end of his term on January 10th. He says his wife and three children deserved more of his time, attention, and, involvement. But he also wants to give enough time for Republicans in the district to fill his vacancy in the newly re-drawn 53rd senate district. He says as a state senator he’s had the privilege to serve as an independent voice in favor of limited and responsible governance. He also says he’s very excited for his next chapter in life and wishes the best for the next Senator.
