Updated: Mendota police say someone armed with a handgun demanded money at the Clark gas station at Jefferson St. and 13th Ave. Thursday night. The crime happened at 6:37pm. The suspect wore a dark mask over his or her face and the person’s hands were covered by dark gloves. The suspect is described as short and heavy-set. His or her clothes were a dark colored sweatshirt with the word “Illinois” on the front and dark sweatpants. Anyone who knows something about the crime is asked to call Mendota police at 815-539-9331.
