Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen winners don’t sit still much

The six winners of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen award at a presentation in Ottawa yesterday aren’t known for sitting around. Patricia Hopkins of D.A.R. read off long lists of things they’ve done and still do. These high school seniors themselves aren’t sure how they find the time for all the sports practices and volunteer causes.

The winners are Ella Biggins of Marquette, Grace Carroll of Ottawa, Calvin Maierhofer of Seneca, Alexis Linder of Serena, Abbigail Pierce of Streator, and Shay Wilcoxen of Woodland schools. Maierhofer is going on to the next level up district competition for the D.A.R. Good Citizen award.

Co-chairing the award committee, Julie McDonald says they definitely represent the best for dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.
