In Local Sports, in high school hoops on Saturday the Serena Huskers defeated Hall in the third place game of the Seneca Turkey Tournament, 61-47. Camden Figgins led the way with 14 points and Carson Baker added 13 points in the win for Serena. In the championship game Seneca defeated Newark 64-43 to repeat as champions. Paxton Giertz led the way with 18 points. Braden Ellis chipped in with 18 points in the victory. St.Bede defeated Dwight 54-49 to claim 3rd place in the Rt. 17 Thanksgiving classic. At the Dean Riley Shooting the Rock tournament Streator defeated Marengo 65-36. The Ottawa Pirates fell to Lasalle-Peru 47-38 on the final day of the tournament. Payton Knoll had 14 points in the losing effort for Ottawa. In the championship game of the Dean Riley Shooting the Rock tournament Princeton defeated Pontiac 73-47. In other local sports, the Ottawa boys bowling team lost to Sycamore. Nelson Brandt led Ottawa with a 583 series and a high game of 203. Aaron Wiltfong added a 516 series in the loss.

(East Rutherford, NJ) — The Chicago Bears couldn’t slow down Jets back-up quarterback Mike White in a 31-10 loss at MetLife Stadium. Chicago got out to a 10-7 lead in the second quarter before giving up 24 unanswered points. Trevor Siemian got the start under center for the injured Justin Fields. Siemian completed 14 of his 25 pass attempts for 179 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Byron Pringle caught the only touchdown of the game for Chicago, which remains in last place in the NFC North at 3-and-9. Chicago hosts Green Bay this Sunday.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Blackhawks surrendered four second-period goals during a 7-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets at United Center. The Blackhawks never led in the game. Taylor Raddysh and Jujhar Khaira each lit the lamp in the losing effort. Chicago is on a seven-game losing streak, and the team is in last place in the Central Division with 16 points and a 6-11-and-4 record. The Blackhawks host Edmonton on Wednesday.

(Oklahoma City, OK) — The Chicago Bulls fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the final minute of a 123-119 overtime loss at Paycom Center on Friday. DeMar DeRozan hit a game-tying jumper with under a minute left in regulation to send the game to an extra frame, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hit five free throws in the last 30 seconds of overtime to take the Bulls down. DeRozan led Chicago with 30 points, and Zach LaVine poured in 27. The Bulls are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference at 8-and-11. Chicago visits Utah tonight.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago White Sox are bolstering their starting rotation. Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the team signed right-handed starter Mike Clevinger yesterday. The deal is a one-year contract worth at least eight-million dollars. The 31-year-old missed all of 2021 after having Tommy John surgery in November of 2020, but he went 7-and-7 with a 4.33 ERA in 22 starts with the San Diego Padres last season.

(Los Angeles, CA) — The number-15 Notre Dame Fighting Irish weren’t able to keep pace with Caleb Williams and number-six USC during a 38-27 loss at L.A. Memorial Coliseum on Saturday. The Irish got within three in the second quarter, but they gave up a five-yard touchdown run to Williams and never got within a single possession. (Evanston, IL) — The Illinois Fighting Illini forced six Northwestern turnovers in a 41-3 win at Ryan Field on Saturday. Illinois finishes the 2022 regular season in second place in the Big Ten West at 5-and-4 in-conference and 8-and-4 overall. Meanwhile, the Wildcats went 1-and-8 in the Big Ten and 1-and-11 overall to finish in last place in the division.
