Six students from high schools in this area demonstrated dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism enough to be awarded by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The DAR Illini chapter will give Good Citizen awards during a meeting next Thursday at Reddick Mansion in Ottawa.
From Ottawa High School, Grace Carroll is the winner. From Marquette, the winner is Ella Biggins. Calvin Maierhofer is from Seneca High. Alexis Linder is from Serena High. Shay Wilcoxen is from Woodland High and Abbigail Pierce is from Streator High.
The students were chosen by their schools. One will get a scholarship Thursday.
