A $1000 donation from the Ottawa Walmart will help the Ottawa Fire Department purchase a new smoke house to help children learn how to escape a fire. Captain Kevin Theis says the smoke trailer that the department used for years is old and outdated and won’t be used anymore. The house they want to buy is inflatable. He says the house will be a lot easier to carry around because it’s doesn’t need a trailer.

The total cost for the house is about nine to ten thousand dollars. But Theis says the department should be able to buy by the end of this year.
