Valley Immigrant Advocates can double legal services with US Department of Justice accreditation

Valley Immigrant Advocates in Ottawa can double the amount of little to no cost legal services they can provide to residents. That’s because they have been recognized by the US Department of Justice. The DOJ’s statement says VIA possesses the structure and status to provide representation who appear before the Executive Office for Immigration Review and the Department of Homeland Security. Paralegal and Interpreter Octavia Davis was also approved as an Accredited Representative by the DOJ. Executive Director John Breslin says the dual accreditation makes the group one of the only few that have received the accreditation outside Illinois’ metropolitan area. The recognition is good for two years.
