In Local Sports, the Shepherd 7th Grade Lady Rams defeated Morris Saratoga 13-11.Kennedy Kane had 7 points and Chloe Thrush had 4 points. The Shepherd 8th Grade Lady Rams lost to Saratoga 36-26. Aslynn Ganiere had 9 points, Meredith Waldron 6 points, and Reese Purcell 5 points. In high school girls hoops the Serena Huskers fell to the Seneca Irish 41-31. Paisley Twait led the way with 23 points and seven rebounds for the Huskers. Kennedy Hartwig led the way for the Irish with 16 points. Elgin defeated Earlville at the IMSA tournament 51-47. Madyson Olson led the way with 21 points for Earlville. At the Falcon-Irish tournament the Marquette Lady Cru fell to Fieldcrest 50-24. Lily Craig scored 11 points in the loss for Marquette and Avery Durdan grabbed 10 rebounds. At the Princeton tournament Putnam County defeated St. Bede 41-26 and Streator beat Midland 32-31. At the Prairie Central tournament, the Ottawa Lady Pirates fell to Peoria Notre Dame 54-28. In Boys Bowling the Ottawa Pirates defeated Kaneland Ottawa 2,733, Kaneland 2,547. Nelson Brandt led the way with a 570 series and high games of 225 and 202.

>Bears Looking To Snap Three-Game Slide, Falcons Eye Bucs For First Place

(Atlanta, GA)  —  The Bears are looking to snap their three-game losing streak against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.  The Bears are coming off a 31-30 collapse against the Detroit Lions in which the team gave up 21 points in the fourth quarter.  Justin Fields rushed for 147 yards to go with two touchdowns and set a Bears record for the longest touchdown run by a quarterback with a 61-yard score.  However, the team got some bad news regarding their second leading rusher.  Khalil Herbert was placed on IR with a hip injury and will miss at least the next four weeks. 

 

>>Bulls Host Magic Tonight

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Bulls are hoping to snap their losing skid.  Chicago hosts the Orlando Magic tonight at the United Center.  The Bulls come off a 14-point loss to the Pelicans and have dropped three games in a row.  DeMar DeRozan led all scorers with 28 points in the loss to New Orleans, and Zach LaVine finished with 25.  Coby White and Patrick Williams are both listed as questionable to play tonight.  Chicago comes in at 6-and-9. 

 

>>Blackhawks Visit Bruins Tomorrow

(Boston, MA)  —  The Blackhawks are facing a major test as they hit the road.  Chicago takes on the Bruins tomorrow in Boston.  The Blackhawks come off a 5-2 loss to the Blues and have dropped four of their last five games.  Chicago fell to 6-7-and-3 and has 15 points on the season.  Patrick Kane leads the team with 11 assists and 13 goals this season.  Boston leads the NHL with 30 points and a 15-2-0 record this season. 

 

>>College Football Wrap-Up

(Undated)  —  Illinois faces a major test on the road this weekend.  The Fighting Illini take on third-ranked Michigan tomorrow in Ann Arbor.  Northwestern looks to snap a nine-game losing skid as it visits Purdue tomorrow.  The Wildcats are 1-and-9 on the season.  The Fighting Irish are looking for their fifth win in a row.  18th-ranked Notre Dame hosts Boston College tomorrow afternoon at home. 

 

>>College Basketball Roundup

(Undated)  —  In local college basketball action yesterday,Illinois State lost to Northwestern State 70-67, and Northern Illinois fell to Georgia Tech 68-50.  20th-ranked Illinois hosts Number-7 UCLA tonight.  The Fighting Illini have started the season 3-and-0.  Notre Dame takes on Lipscomb tonight.
