The Phillies are leading the World Series 2-1 after blowing out the Astros 7-0 in Game Three. Philadelphia combined for five home runs as a team, including a two-run shot for Bryce Harper in the bottom of the first inning. Houston will be looking to tie the series at two games apiece in Game Four tonight.

The White Sox are beginning a new era of baseball on the Southside. The Royals bench coach Pedro Grifol will be the next manager of the Sox. An official announcement is expected later this week. Grifol spent the last ten seasons on the Royals staff, and he was interviewed for Kansas City’s open manager’s job. The report adds that the 52-year-old would bring on former Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo to be his bench coach.
The Cubs Ian Happ won a National League Gold Glove award yesterday. The honor recognizes the best defensive player at each position in each league. Happ won the award as a left fielder. It’s his first career Gold Glove, and he’s only the fourth Cubs outfielder to win the award.
The Cardinals’ Nolan Arenado is a winner of this year’s Golden Glove awards. The Cards third baseman earned his 10th straight Golden Glove,
The Chicago Bulls overcame a 12-point deficit to beat the Nets 108-99 in Brooklyn. Zach LaVine poured in 29 points, and DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 20. The Bulls snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory and will host Charlotte tonight.
The Blackhawks didn’t have enough juice to finish a comeback attempt during a 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders at the United Center. The Hawks’ Arvid Soderblom made 28 saves in the losing effort. The Blackhawks fall to 4-4-and-2. They host the L.A. Kings tomorrow night.
The Chicago Bears are giving Justin Fields a new weapon. The team traded for Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool before the NFL trade deadline yesterday. The Bears are sending Pittsburgh a second-round pick for 2023. Claypool has 32 catches for 311 yards and a touchdown this season. The trade is Chicago’s third in the last week. The Bears traded Robert Quinn to the Eagles last Wednesday and sent Roquan Smith to the Ravens on Monday. The Bears host Miami on Sunday.
The College Football Playoff’s initial top 25 rankings are out. Illinois came in at number-16, which is the highest ranking among teams in the Big Ten West. The Fighting Illini are 7-and-1 this season and haven’t lost since September. Tennessee took the top spot, followed by Ohio State, defending champion Georgia and Clemson. Teams ranked in the top four at the end of the season will play in two semifinal games, with the winner of each advancing to the national title game. Rankings will come out each week until Selection Day on December 4th.
