Electric bikes in LaSalle could get stricter rules. Alderman Bob Thompson says he wants to create an ordinance that requires the bikes to have a working headlight and a tail light. He says the bikes are traveling at about thirty miles an hour and sometimes can’t be seen. And he doesn’t want someone to get hit. Thompson says the state doesn’t regulate the electric bikes like a motorcycle, so the bikes only need reflectors in the front and back. He also says he’s received several complaints from residents about the bikes.
