TUESDAY LOCAL SPORTS UPDATE

Last Night Game Three of the World Series was postponed due to inclement weather.  It will now be played Tuesday night in Philadelphia with the series tied up at one game apiece.  Game Four will be Wednesday and Game Five is scheduled for Thursday.  It’s the first World Series game to be postponed since Game Six in 2011 between the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers. 

 

The Browns took down the Cincinnati Bengals 32-13 in a Halloween Monday Night Football clash in Cleveland.  The Browns improve to 3-and-5. The Bengals dropped to 4-and-4.

 

The Chicago Bears traded linebacker Roquan Smith to the Baltimore Ravens yesterday.  The Bears are receiving a second and fifth-round pick in 2023.  Linebacker AJ Klein is also coming to Chicago in the deal.  As part of the trade agreement, the Bears will pay Smith 4.8 million dollars for the rest of the season.  Smith was selected eighth overall in the 2018 draft and is leading the league with 83 tackles this season.  

 

The Chicago Bulls will try to get back to even when they take on the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center tonight. The Bulls suffered a loss to the 76ers on Saturday to fall to 3-and-4.  Meanwhile, the Nets enter the contest with a 2-and-5 record.

In college basketball exhibition action yesterday, The NIU Huskies beat McKendree. Tonight, UIC hosts Illinois Tech, and DePaul is at home against Marian.

 

The Blackhawks look to get back in the win column against the New York Islanders at the United Center tonight.  The Hawks have lost their last three games after falling to the Wild in a shootout loss on Sunday.  The Blackhawks are 4-3-and-2 this season, while the Islanders are 5 and 4.

In Major League Baseball, Albert Pujols is making his retirement official.  The St. Louis Cardinals legend signed his retirement papers with the team yesterday.  Pujols announced that 2022 would be his final season after signing with St. Louis in free agency prior to the season, but this move makes it official.

 

Local Sports

At the Forreston Class 1A sectional semi-final in volleyball, Marquette lost to River Ridge in three matches. Ava McCallum led the Lady Crusaders with seven kills, Kaylee Killelea and Avery Durdan each had six kills and Maera Jimenez had 12 assists and two kills in the loss.
