The city of LaSalle is supporting the county joining the lawsuit to stop the SAFE-T Act from ending cash bail. The city council approved a proclamation last night. They are the first city in the county to show support for the lawsuit. Alderman Bob Thompson, who’s a former police officer, says there is a lot that needs to be changed, which includes keeping cash bail.

He says this continues to be a glairing issue when state’s attorneys from both political parties are against the bill.

Even though he didn’t vote, Mayor Jeff Grove also says that he supports the resolution as an Illinois resident and as the mayor. LaSalle County State’s Attorney Joe Navarro announce early last month that LaSalle County will join the lawsuit along with ninety other state’s attorneys.
