Around 1,427 LaSalle County residents voted early in person so far as of Wednesday. County Clerk Lori Bongartz says 2,768 mail-in ballots have been returned. That’s about half that were asked for.
These figures seem low compared to the more than 20,000 mail-in ballots the county had in 2020. That was a presidential race and they tend to draw more voters. People were also worried about going out during a pandemic.
