TUESDAY LOCAL SPORTS UPDATE

The Chicago Bears stormed into Foxborough and dismantled the Patriots 33-14 on Monday Night Football.  Justin Fields threw for 179 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.  Fields also carried the ball 14 times for 82 yards and a score.  David Montgomery found the end zone as well, while he and Khalil Herbert each ran for 62 yards.  The Bears are now tied for second place in the NFC North at 3-and-4.

 

The Bulls snapped their two-game skid after taking down the Boston Celtics 120-102 at the United Center.  DeMar DeRozan led the Bulls with 25 points.  Nikola Vucevic was a monster on the glass, grabbing a game high 23 rebounds.  Ayo Dosunmu added 22 points for the Bulls who are home against the Pacers tomorrow night.

The Blackhawks will look for their fourth straight win when they host the Florida Panthers at United Center tonight.  The Blackhawks beat the Kraken on Sunday to improve to 3-2 this season.  Meanwhile, the Panthers enter the contest with a 4-1-and-1 record.

Results in postseason varsity volleyball

Putnam County defeated Earlville in two sets at the Class 1A St Bede Regional. 

Bureau Valley were winners in two sets over the host team Hall in the Class 2A Regional.

 

 

The Ottawa Dolphins competed at the Kishwaukee YMCA Triangular Meet. Triple Event Winners were Griffin Sharp, Atley Strow and Quinn Wilkinson. Double event winner was Maya Burke.  Single event winners were Lillian Clayton, Andrew Gritt, Parker Hettel, Finley Jobst, Kaiden Lemke and Annabelle Threadgill 

 

Shepherd competed In the opening round of the Starved Rock Conference Tournament in girls junior high Basketball. The 7th grade team defeated Spring Valley 35-0. Kennedy Kane led the way with 20 points. The 8th Graders were winners over Streator 38-8. Reese Purcell had 16 points, Meredith Waldron added 12 more for the Lady Rams.
