Two houses owned by the Ottawa Elementary School District will be knocked down. The houses are located next to Jefferson Elementary School. The school board approved looking for bids to get contractors for the project last week. Supt. Michelle Lee says the one of the homes might have belonged to one of the relatives of one of the school board members. The district was able to purchase the house later and used it for an art house. The other house has never been used. She says once they are demolished, the school could use the land for an area for parents to drop off kids so they don’t have to cross the street to get their kids to school.
