More work still needed for street realignment and extension projects in Marseilles

More time is needed before the water and sewer extension to Interstate 80 and the Commercial and Broadway Street realignment project in Marseilles are done. City Engineer Mike Etscheid says the pipes for the water and sewer extension project are in place but power is still needed for the water and sewer pump stations. The city has to wait on Ameren and Ficek Electric to work on it. It was originally reported that the project would have been done by this summer. That project could take several more weeks. Etscheid also says there is some water main work left to do for the realignment project. After it’s finished, contractors will be able to make curbs and finish paving what’s left. He says it’s harder to tell when that project will be done because the city doesn’t have control over when the crews can and can’t work. He says if the state says crews will be getting an extension, then the project will be extended.
