Cookoff contest promises good smells in downtown Ottawa–but no samples

By WCMY News Oct 6, 2022 | 10:21 AM

Twenty backyard chefs will compete in the Smoketober barbecue contest in Ottawa Saturday. Donna Reynolds at the Ottawa Visitors Center says they’ll get the meat to cook at 7am on the Jordan Block. Professional cooking contest judges will go to work at 2pm.

The public won’t get to eat and judge. Reynolds says the city hasn’t had the required health inspections to allow the chefs to sell what they make. But you can contact the Ottawa Visitors Center to buy pig roast tickets for $20 each.
