The Kaskaskia Hotel in LaSalle could still be remodeled in the future. But some things need to be fixed in and around the hotel that could pose a risk to the public’s safety. Scott Brown with Wendler Engineering Services says a rehabilitation plan for the building group, being CL Enterprises, was given by the city to the engineering firm. It said a significant amount of water damage was present throughout the building. Brown says when he inspected hotel, a wall in the garage behind it has a wall that’s leaning. There’s also been damage to the wood that’s holding up the wall that’s leaning. Brown recommends that both should be fixed and braced above the second floor. He also recommends that anything cemented into the building should be checked to make sure that it’s not loose. The last recommendation is to add brackets to the balconies on the front of the hotel.
