LaSalle Station nuclear reactor unit two is powering up again. It went offline Monday after a small fire, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s incident report.
The report says workers manually tripped the reactor as soon as they got the fire signal. The fire was out two minutes later. When they tried to turn the reactor on again, a reactor protection system power supply tripped. Unit two was powering up again on Friday.
The NRC says there was never a danger to the public or the nuclear plant personnel. The Unit one reactor continued generating its full power.
Clarification: The NRC says the incident was Monday, September 26.
