Marna R. Tullis, 96

Marna R. Tullis, 96, formerly of Long Point passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at Manor Court in Peru. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in the Long Point Cemetery.

Born May 6, 1926 in Long Point she was the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Saemisch) Mills. She married William J. Tullis on April 19, 1952 at St. Anthony Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2004. She is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Scott) Ingold of Streator and Julie (Jim) Jonen of Channahon; a son, Greg Tullis of Streator; grandchildren, Niki VanDuzer of Streator, Ryan (Nadia Meghjani) Ingold of Marietta, Georgia, Lauren (Jayme) Roberts of Cromwell, Connecticut, Ashley (Gavin Pfieffer) Jonen of Channahon; and great grandchildren, Rocco and Dessa VanDuzer both of Streator.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Byron Mills.

Born and raised in Long Point she attended Long Point Grade School and graduated from Long Point High School in the class of 1944. She later attended Illinois State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and her Master’s Degree in Special Education. She taught school in Flanagan and later at Woodland School. Through the years Marna taught Home Economics, Special Education and when she retired in 1989 she was teaching 6th grade.

She was a member of the Long Point American Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she served many years as President, the Livingston County Teachers Association, the Long Point High School Alumni Association where she served as Secretary/Treasurer and the Illinois Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary. She was also a member of the former St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Memorials may be directed to the Woodland Education Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
