Post season results in girls varsity golf.

Ottawa finished 6th at the Class 2A Joliet Regional. Hannah Duggan and Caroline Cooney advance to the Sectionals for the Lady Pirates. Avah Moriarty and Allie Thome move on as individuals for the Lady Cavaliers.

 

Seneca hosted and finished 2nd at the Class 1A Regional at the Nettle Creek Golf Club. The Lady Irish were led by Shelby Welsh. Seneca advanced to the Class 1A Sandwich Sectional on Monday.

 

Results in Volleyball

Marquette were winners at Serena in two straight sets.

 

Streator lost at home to Peotone. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Ellie Isermann and Sophia Pence each with 4 kills.

 

Woodland won at home over Henry-Senachwine, The Lady Warriors were led by Malayna Pitte with six kills.

 

Seneca won on the road at Putnam County. Neely Hougas and Alyssa Zellers were top performers for the Lady irish.

 

Newark were winners at Rosary. Lauren Ulrich had eight kills and three aces, Kiara Wesseh finished with 10 kills for the Lady Norseman.

 

The Ottawa soccer team lost 4-1 at Serena High School. Hudson Stafford, Cam Figgins, Tanner Faivre and Eduardo Moncada each had a goal in the Huskers win. Evan Snook scored the lone goal for the Pirates.

 

Jose Abreu hit a go-ahead double in the top of the eighth to lead the White Sox past the Twins 4-3 at Target Field. The White Sox snapped an eight-game losing streak with the win, and will send Davis Martin to the mound against San Diego tonight.

 

The Cubs celebrated a sweep in their season series with the Phillies.  The North-Siders defeated Philadelphia 2-0 at Wrigley Field.  Javier Assad was credited with the victory after pitching five scoreless innings. The Cubs will send Adrian Sampson to the hill against Cincinnati today.

 

The Cardinals begin a weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium tonight.  The Cards have already clinched the NL Central after beating Milwaukee earlier this week.

 

The Bengals beat the Miami Dolphins 27-15 on Thursday night football in Cincinnati.   

 

The 2-1 Chicago Bears are in New York to take the Giants on Sunday Afternoon.

 

College football this weekend:The Illini are at Wisconsin, Northwestern travels to Penn State, NIU is at Ball State and the ISU Redbirds host SIU.

 

The Chicago Fire are back in action against Cincinnati at the TQL Stadium tomorrow.  The Fire have already been eliminated from playoff contention and are in 12th place in the MLS Eastern Conference with nine wins, eight draws, and 15 losses.

 

The Blackhawks take on the Detroit Red Wings at the United Center tomorrow night.  The Hawks are 1-1 in exhibition play after a 4-2 win at Detroit on Wednesday.
