Peru adopts food truck ordinance

The city of Peru has a new food truck ordinance. Mayor Ken Kolowski says the city never really had an ordinance for food trucks but they started to become a problem like in other cities. He says he’s for free enterprise but doesn’t want an unknown food truck taking money from residents and leaving.

Kolowski says that the ordinance is both fair to food trucks and brick and motor businesses.

Some of the rules say that anyone with a food truck must have a permit from the city and can operate on a commercial private property if they are allowed to. It costs $200 and will last from May 1st through April 30th. They also must be 300 feet away from any restaurant unless the restaurant allows them on their property.
