Marseilles City Commissioner Nathan Schaefer says the Marseilles Athletic Club cannot run full youth sports leagues without financial assistance or more volunteers. He says at a Marseilles Recreation Board meeting he mentioned that the organization put out several notices asking for extra help.
He says because there hasn’t been help needed the organization will not be running any city wide youth sports leagues like youth baseball, t-ball, or flag football by next year. But Schaefer says that doesn’t mean there won’t be youth sports. He says the organization will downsize.
The worst case scenario is that the organization has to stop doing youth sports all together and completely folds. Schaefer says if that happens, the city’s recreation board could run the programs.
