Tonight the White Sox begin a road series against the Twins in Minnesota.Broadcast begins at 6:00 with the first pitch at 6:40 on 93.5 1430 WCMY. 

Southsiders haven’t been mathematically eliminated from the AL Wild Card race yet, but they will be with any combination of three Sox losses and Mariners wins throughout the rest of the season.  

 

The Cubs are back in town to take on the Phillies at Wrigley Field.  The Cubs are in third place in the NL Central and have already been eliminated from postseason play.  Marcus Stroman takes the mound for the Cubs tonight.

 

The Cardinals have a chance to clinch the NL Central during their series against the Brewers that begins tonight in Milwaukee.  The Cardinals have a six-and-a-half game lead in the division. The Cards would clinch the Central by winning both games in the series.  Miles Mikolas takes the mound for The Red Birds.

 

The Dallas Cowboys knocked off the Giants 23-16 in a Monday night showdown. The Cowboys improved to 2-and-1.  New York took their first loss to fall to 2-and-1 and will host the Bears on Sunday. 

 

The Blackhawks play their first preseason game tonight against the St. Louis Blues at United Center. The Hawks are looking to bounce back from a horrible 28-42-and-12 season last year.  

 

Local Sports

 

The Ottawa Pirates won the I8 Conference Championship at the Mendota Country Club. Drake Kaufman was the Individual Champion with Jonanthan Cooper placing third and Jacob Armstrong finished in fifth place.

 

The JV team also won the Conference tournament. Harry Caretto placed 2nd and Colin Fowler took 5th.

 

The Ottawa Lady Pirates defeated Seneca at the Deer Park Golf Course.  Hannah Duggan led all golfers with Sam Rivera and Caroline Cooney adding scores to the team win. Addison Stiegler and Shelby Welsh led the way for the Lady Irish.

 

Over the weekend Marquette took 2nd place at the Harvard Invitational in volleyball. Leading the Lady Crusaders was Maera Jimenez with 110 Assists and 18 aces. Lindsey Kaufmann led the defense with 37 digs and 4 aces  The attack was led by Mary Lechtenberg with 31 kills and 7 blocks.   

 

Last night the Lady CRU won on the road at Hall in two matches. Leading the way in the victory was Eva McCallum and Mary Lechtenberg each with 7 Kills.

LP won 2-1 at home over Plano in the first game of the I8 conference tournament. Seth Adams and Brayan Gonzalez each scored a goal for the Cavaliers.

 

Earlville were winners at home 4-2 over Serena in the Little Ten Conference. 

 

The Streator Lady Bulldogs won at home over Kankakaa in tennis.  Syria Zuniga & Charlee Bourell, Marisa Vickers & Franchesca Rodriguez and Mina James & Maddie Wahl all won in doubles.
