The Peru and Spring Valley Police Departments are getting a portion of a one million dollar grant from Illinois State Police. ISP says the grant will be used to get guns out the hands of dangerous people who post a threat to themselves or others.
Peru PD is getting a little more than $3,000 while Spring Valley PD is getting almost $4,000. ISP also says the grant amounts depend on several factors like population and the number of Firearm Owner Identification Cards residents own among other things. Thirty other police departments around the state will also receive some grant money.
