Hall High School in Spring Valley is participating again in this year’s Illinois High School Association’s Pork and Pigskins Championship through the Illinois Pork Producers Association. The school is one of sixteen in the state that’s trying to make the best pork chop sandwich. Hall Booster Organization Pres. Kelly Whightsil says the school was cooking pork chops long before the competition started. So the school has a good reputation.

But she says she does like to try the competitions when she can.

The school didn’t make it past the savory sixteen last year so that’s one of the goals this year. They are also competing against other area schools like Bureau Valley and Kewanee. Whightsil says judges from the Illinois High School Association could be coming to Friday’s football game to judge their pork chops.
