Results in Varsity Volleyball

The Ottawa Lady Pirates were winners on the road at Plano. Leading the way in the victory were Mel Pries with 5 Kills. Olivia Evola,  Alyssa Malmassari and Ryleigh Stevenson each finished with 4 kills.

 

Marquette won on the road at Midland in two matches.

 

Serena defeated IMSA in two matches in Volleyball. Top performers were Abby Johnson and  Makayla McNally for the Lady Huskers.

 

Woodland were winners at home over Roanoke-Benson. Emma Highland had nine kills and a block, Malayna Pitte finished with six kills and a block in the victory.

 

Newark lost to Indian Creek. Kiara Wesseh led the Lady Norsemen with nine kills..

 

In golf

Streator defeated Morris and Reed-Custer at High Point Golf Course. Jaydon Nambo, Cole Park, Kylen Krasnican and Cooper Spears led the way for the Bulldogs.

 

The Serena Varsity team won at Cedar Dell Golf Course over Plano. Cam Figgins was the top golfer for the Huskers.

 

The Seneca varsity girls were winners over St Bede at the Creek Golf Course, Leading the way in the victory were Julia Hogan, Addison Stiegler and Jessica Bertrang.  The Lady Bruins were led by Gianna Gravetti in the loss.

 

The Ottawa Pirates won  7-0 over Sandwich at King Field in Soccer.

 

Also in soccer, Streator won 5-3 at home over Plano. Brady Grabowski scored 3 goals in the Bulldog win.

 

Streator lost at home to Morris in tennis. The team of Charlee Bourell/Syria Zuniga and the duo of Marisa Vickers/Franchesca Rodriguez won in doubles for the Lady Bulldogs.

 

Yesterday afternoon on WCMY, The White Sox launched five home runs during an 8-2 rout of the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field.  Gavin Sheets, Andrew Vaughn, Yoan Moncada, Yasmani Grandal, and Elvis Andrus all went deep in the victory. Lucas Giolito will start for The South-Siders against the Tigers tonight.

 

The Cubs begin a series against the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field this afternoon. Marcus Stroman will get the start for the North-Siders.

 

The Cardinals managed just three hits in a 3-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium.  Paul Goldschmidt drove in his 110th run of the season. Jack Flaherty takes the mound for St. Louis against the Reds tonight.

 

Last night on Thursday Night Football, Kansas City Chiefs hung on to beat the LA Chargers 27-24 at Arrowhead Stadium.

 

Sunday Night the oldest rivalry in the NFL will kick off with the Chicago Bears facing the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The Bears have not won at Lambeau since 2015.

 

College Football this weekend. Notre Dame will face California, Northwestern takes on SIU, Northern versus Vanderbilt and Illinois State will host Eastern Illinois. 

 

The Chicago Fire will try to get back into the win column when they host Charlotte at Soldier Field tomorrow night.  

 

Roger Federer announced his retirement from competitive tennis.  Federer posted a video on social media stating that the Laver (laa-ver) Cup next weekend in Boston will be his last event.
