Results in Tennis

The Ottawa varsity team were winners at Rochelle. Emma Cushing and Layne Krug both won in singles. The duo of Rylee O’Fallon & Jenna Smithmeyer, the team of Isabelle Heimsoth & Emma Walker and partners Mika Moreland & Mackenzie Eichelkraut were all winners in doubles. 

 

The JV team also defeated Rochelle. Gabby Cooper and Zulee Moreland each won in singles. Partners Rylee Harsted & Delayne Harsted and the duo of Yaquelin Hernandez-Solis & Selena Gomez each scored a win in doubles.

 

Streator were winners at Princeton. The Duo of Syria Zuniga & Charlee Bourell, partners Marisa Vickers & Franchesca Rodriguez  and  the team of Maddie Wahl and Mina James all won in doubles 

 

Yesterday in Golf

Ottawa defeated their host Morris but came up short to Lockport in a triangular matchup at the Morris Country Club.  Jonathan Cooper, Drake Kaufman, Chandler Creedon and Jacob Armstrong led the Pirates on the day.

 

Streator won at home over Wilmington at the Eastwood Golf Course. Top performers for the Bulldogs were Cole Park and Jaydon Nambo.

 

LP defeated Sycamore and Sandwich in a triangular matchup at Oak Ridge Golf course.

 

In Girls Varsity Golf, LP lost at Sycamore.  Avah Moriarty and Allie Thome led the Lady Cavaliers 

 

At the LP Cross-Country invitational at Baker Lake. In the Girls division, the Lady Pirates Grace Carroll finished 1st, Eva Heimsoth placed 2nd and Addyson Miller took 4th. Maggie Jewett finished 3rd for the Marquette Lady Crusaders and Abby Pierce placed 10th for Streator. 

In the Boys division, Streator’s Kody Danko won the event. Lucas Farabaugh placed 5th Liam Tipple placed 9th for the Ottawa Pirates.

 

Results in Volleyball

Ottawa suffered a tough loss at Morris. Top performers for the Lady Pirates were Mel Pries, Alyssa Malmassari, Rayleigh Stevenson and Haley Waddell.

 

Streator defeated Manteno. Alexa Jacobs finished with 6 blocks, 2 kills, Devin Elias and Bella Dean each had 3 kills, 1 block in the victory.

 

Newark rallied at home to beat Earlville. Kodi Rizzo had six aces, six kills and four blocks for the Lady Norseman. Nevaeh Sansone finished with 13 digs and nine kills in the road loss.

 

LP won at home in two matches over Plano. Top performers for the Lady Cavaliers were Emma Garretson, Olivia Shetterly and Addison Urbanski. 

 

The White Sox scored three runs in the bottom of the first en route to a 4-2 win over the Rockies at Guaranteed Rate Field.  Eloy Jimenez launched a three-run homer in the first, and Jose Abreu hit a solo shot in the eighth.  Michael Kopech earned his fifth win after giving up two runs in five innings, Liam Hendriks picked up his 33rd save.   

 

The Cubs took down the Mets 4-1 in New York.  Ian Happ launched a solo shot in the second inning and David Bote also went deep.  Adrian Sampson earned his second win on the mound after throwing six scoreless innings.  The North-Siders improved to 60 and 82 and will go against the Mets again tonight. 

 

The Cardinals dropped the first game of their series with the Brewers 8-4 at Busch Stadium.  Jordan Montgomery was charged with his fourth loss after giving up four earned runs and two unearned runs in five innings of work.  The Cardinals are now just seven games ahead of Milwaukee in the NL Central race.  Adam Wainwright takes the hill for St. Louis against the Brewers tonight.

 

The Chicago Fire failed to complete their comeback during a 3-2 loss to Montreal at Saputo Stadium.  The Fire remain in 12th place in the MLS Eastern Conference and will host Charlotte on Saturday.
