Leonore home destroyed in fire

By WCMY News Sep 14, 2022 | 1:01 PM

Nine fire departments helped put out a house fire in Leonore early this morning. The house was already fully burning and falling down when the first fire fighters got there. Someone noticed the flames at about 4:30am. Leonore Fire Chief Don Miller says it took about four hours to put them all out.

No one was home when the fire started. Miller says the owner was away on a fishing trip.

Most of the fire departments that helped hauled water from elsewhere. Miller says the Leonore water mains and fire hydrants weren’t up to the demand.

The State Fire Marshall’s office will help investigate the cause. Miller doesn’t believe it’s suspicious.
