LaSalle County Board member Doug Trager pushed for the board to do something with $21 million in federal pandemic relief funds. Now he wants the board to be more careful about what it does. Trager doesn’t think everyone applying for the money deserves it.
Trager says taxing districts have the ability to raise money for what they want and need. Member Randy Freeman disagrees.
The board yesterday approved $416,000 in grants for five applicants. The money will improve the LaSalle County Historical Society’s blacksmith shop, the Rutland water system, and storm water drainage in Grand Ridge. It will also make up for lost revenue at Camp Tuckabatchee and the Tonica Fire Department.
