On WCMY, The Marquette Crusader won big at home over Dee-Mack 28-0 at Gould Stadium.

Over on 95.3 JackFM, The Ottawa Pirates traveled to Harvard High School and completely dominated the Hornets with a 63-0 victory.

Other results from the area in high school football: Streator held on to win at Herscher, LP were winners at Woodstock North, Hall lost on the road at Princeton, Mendota dominated at Bureau Valley, Morris got a big win at home over Kaneland, St Bede won at home over Kewanee and Seneca defeated Salt Fork.

  

In Varsity Golf

Marquette were winners over Midland. Carson Zellers and Ryan Peterson led the way for the Crusaders.

 

Ottawa placed 5th out of twenty schools at the Metamora Invitational. Seth Cooper led the Pirates with Drake Kaufman, Jonathan Cooper and Chandler Creedon all registering scores on the day.

 

Ottawa placed first on the road at the Joliet West Tennis Invitational. The team of Jenna Smithmeyer and Rylee O’Fallon and the duo of Makenzie Eichelkraut and Mika Moreland were winners in doubles. Emma Cushing  and Layne Krug each had wins in singles.

 

Local Cross Country results at the First to the Finish Meet in Peoria.

Top performers for Streator were Kody Danko for the boys and Abby Pierce in the girls division. Marquette’s Maggie Jewett was the top runner for the Lady Crusaders. The Ottawa Pirates were led by Lucas Farabaugh and Liam Tipple with Grace Carroll leading the Lady Pirates.  Evelyn O’Connor and Austin Aldridge were the top performers for Seneca High School.

 

Streator competed at the Sandwich Invitational in Volleyball. Leading the Lady Bulldogs were Emma Rambo, Ellie Isermann and Bella Dean.

 

Earlville won at Sandwich 8-1 in soccer. Diego Vazquez scored five goals, Griffin Cook added a goal and three assists in the Red Raiders victory.

The White Sox gave up six runs in the fifth inning of a 10-3 loss to the Oakland Athletics at RingCentral Coliseum. The 72-and-69 Sox are two-and-a-half games behind Cleveland for first place in the AL Central and return home to take on the Rockies tomorrow night.

 

The Cubs managed just two runs on 12 hits in a 4-2 loss to the Giants at Wrigley Field. The 58-and-82 Cubs send Javier Assad to the mound against the Mets tonight.     

 

The Cardinals beat the Pirates 4-3 in Pittsburgh. The Cards hold an eight-game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central race and are back at home against Milwaukee tomorrow night.

 

The NFL season started for the Bears with a 19-10 victory over the 49ers at Soldier Field.  Justin Fields threw for just 121 yards with two touchdown passes in the second half as the Bears rallied from an early 10-0 deficit. The Bears head to Green Bay to face the Packers on Sunday night.

 

Last Night on Sunday Night Football, The Buccaneers kept the Cowboys out of the end zone as Tampa Bay dismantled Dallas 19-3 in Arlington.

The Fighting Illini are back above .500 following a 24-3 win over Virginia at Memorial Stadium.

 

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were stunned after a 26-21 upset loss to Marshall in South Bend. 

 

The Northwestern Wildcats got off to a slow start in a 31-23 loss to Duke at Ryan Field. The NIU Huskies lost to Tulsa, The ISU Redbirds beat Valparaiso, Eastern Illinois lost to Chattanooga and Western Illinois was crushed by Minnesota.

 

The Chicago Fire extended their unbeaten streak to three matches following a 3-1 MLS win over Miami on Saturday. 

 

In NASCAR, Bubba Wallace picked up the second win of his career after winning the Hollywood Casino 400 in Kansas.
