The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is hosting an information meeting at Starved Rock State Park to talk about Chronic Wasting Disease in deer. The event will be at the state parks visitors’ center in Oglesby on Monday, September 19th starting at 7pm. The IDNR will update residents about the disease, its effects on future deer population, and what they are doing to control it. The disease is always fatal and threatens the long term health of white-tailed deer in the state.
18.4% of deer tested positive for the disease in LaSalle County last years, which is the highest it’s ever been.
