Second round of property tax bills due Wednesday

The second installment of LaSalle County property tax bills are due this Wednesday. County Treasurer James Spelich is reminding residents that they can send in payments online, on the phone, or can place a check in the Treasurer’s Drop Box at Etna Rd. Governmental Complex in Ottawa. After Wednesday, residents who don’t pay will be charged a 1.5% per month delinquency penalty. The money from property taxes will go to 159 taxing bodies like cities, townships, school districts, library districts, and community colleges. The treasurer’s office says the tax bills total more than $252 million. The county has already distributed about $185 million.
