Results in varsity golf
Ottawa won the Streator Invitational at The Eastwood Golf Course for the third year in a row. Jonathan Cooper and Drake Kaufmann both scored a 70 to lead all golfers. The Host Bulldogs finished in 5th place with Jaydon Nambo and Cole Park leading the team.
Serena won the Irish Golf Invitational at The Creek in Morris. Seneca finished in second with Dwight placing third. For the Huskers Camden Figgins led all golfers with Carson Baker finishing second. Kaleb Powell led the Fighting Irish.
The LP girls golf team lost on the road to Yorkville. Avah Moriarty led the Lady Cavaliers in the losing effort.
In a crosstown volleyball matchup, Woodland defeated Streator in three matches. For the Lady Warriors, Emma Highland finished with seven kills, 12 digs and three aces, Clara Downey had 10 kills and seven digs. Top performers for the Lady Bulldogs, Bella Dean finished with seven digs and nine kills, Emma Rambo finished with 10 assists and two aces
Also in volleyball, Seneca were winners at home over Hall in two straight sets. Sophie Cato had eight kills in the victory.
The Streator boys soccer team were winners on the road with a 5-0 victory over Princeton. Landon Muntz led the way with a pair of goals for the Bulldogs,

The White Sox gave up a pair of runs in the eighth on their way to a 6-4 loss to the Royals in Kansas City. Michael Kopech gave up four runs without recording an out before leaving the game in the first with a knee injury. Jose Abreu had three hits in the losing effort, while Elvis Andrus drove in three. The Sox are three games behind Cleveland in the AL Central.
The Cubs managed just one hit in a 1-0 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field. Christopher Morel hit a double in the third, and he was the only player to reach a base for the North-Siders. Drew Smyly was charged with his seventh loss despite giving up just one run over seven strong innings. The Cubs drop to 52-and-69, and they send Javier Assad and Adrian Sampson to the mound in a split doubleheader against St. Louis today.
Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks will miss the rest of the season after an MRI revealed a tear in his right shoulder.

Forbes released their annual valuation of NFL franchises, and the Chicago Bears came in as the fifth-most valuable team in the league. The Bears are worth five-point-eight-billion dollars, which is up 42-percent from a year ago.
