The Mokena man accused of trying to hire someone to kill the judge and a detective involved in his murder case while in jail has pleaded guilty. This is the second guilty plea from 30-year old Michael Swift after he admitted to stabbing and killing 21-year old Grace Taylor of Ottawa last month. Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis says the two people he wanted to have killed were Judge Cynthia Raccuglia, who sentenced him, as well as a detective in the investigation. Weis says police recorded the conversation with Swift while he was in jail. He was given an additional 25 years that will run consecutive with his sentence in LaSalle County. He’ll serve a total of about 74 years in prison after time being in jail. Weis also says victim impact statements were given at the hearing Monday. He says although the family didn’t say anything, they were satisfied with the outcome.
