The city of Marseilles is looking for volunteers to join a committee created to get a US Environmental Protection Agency Brownfield grant. The committee needed to be formed before the city could apply for the cleanup grant. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says the grant would be used to help the EPA clean up the old Washington School and Nabisco building. He says when there are no more environmental issues, investors might want to come in and renovate the buildings.
Hollenbeck says the grant will help the EPA remove asbestos from pipes at Washington school while lead paint would be removed from the Nabisco building.
