The last part of phase one for the Schweickert Stadium project in Peru has been approved. The city council approved a bid from Vissering Construction for a little less than $483,000 to finish concrete work, add bricks to the stadium backstop, and make drainage improvements. But Mayor Ken Kolowski wonders how the project for the stadium and arena is being paid for. Finance Director Justin Miller although he’s not willing to discuss all the details with the council right now, there is a pathway forward. He says there are other funds that can be used.
The city will be paying more than expected for the project on the stadium and the arena. City Engineer Eric Carls says it’s because the city is facing a world after COVID-19 with supply chain issues and increased material costs. He says and Miller will have another meeting about the projects in the near future.
