The White Sox finished off a series sweep after defeating the Tigers 5-3 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Lance Lynn earned his third victory of the season after allowing two runs over six innings of work. AJ Pollock and Andrew Vaughn each hit a solo shot in the win for the South-Siders who improved to 59-and-56. They trail Cleveland by two-and-a-half-games in the AL Central race.

The Cubs gave up three runs in the fifth en route to an 8-5 loss to the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Patrick Wisdom, Yan Gomes, and Christopher Morel all went deep in the losing effort. The North-Siders drop to 47-and-66 and will send Marcus Stroman to the mound against the Nationals tonight.
The St. Louis Cardinals scored four times in the bottom of the eighth to take down the Brewers 6-3 at Busch Stadium. Dylan Carlson hit a solo home run to put the Cardinals up by one before Albert Pujols launched a three-run shot later in the inning. Miles Mikolas earned his ninth win after giving up just two runs in eight innings.
The Cardinals lead the NL Central by a game-and-a-half with a 63-and-51 record and will host the Rockies tomorrow night.
The Chicago Bears scored 16 third-quarter points in a 19-14 preseason win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Soldier Field. The Bears visit the Seahawks in the second game of the preseason on Thursday.
The Chicago Sky beat the Phoenix Mercury 82-67 at Footprint Center to secure the two-seed in the WNBA playoffs. The Sky will take on the Liberty in the first round of the postseason on Wednesday.
The Chicago Fire couldn’t slow down Philadelphia in a 4-1 loss at Subaru Park. The Fire dropped to tenth place in the Eastern Conference with eight wins, six draws, and 11 losses.
Will Zalatoris celebrated a PGA victory at the St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis. This is Zalatoris’ first win of the season.
In NASCAR, Kevin Harvick made it back-to-back wins after winning the Federated Auto Parts 400 in Virginia.

The Ottawa boys golf team placed fourth in a loaded 16-team field at the High School Showcase in Bloomington. Jonathan Cooper led the Pirates with a final score of 76, Drake Kaufman ended the day scoring a 78.
At the Sandwich Indian Invitational, the Serena Golf team placed 3rd out of 15 teams. Cam Figgins finished 2nd overall to lead The Huskers.
In junior high baseball, Shepherd swept Wallace in a weekend double-header. Game one the Rams won 10-2. Griffin Dobberstein pitched 12 strikeouts. Game two Wallace lost 12-2.
