The U.S House of Representatives will be voting on a version of the Inflation Reduction Act that passed the senate last Sunday. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said it would be done Friday. Republican candidate for the Illinois 14th Congressional District Scott Gryder and U.S Illinois Senate Republican Candidate Kathy Salvi are against it. Both candidates stopped in Peru to tour the Maze Nails Manufacturing Plant Thursday. They both said the business is what American and the Illinois Valley are all about. Gryder says manufacturers will take a hit under the IRA bill.

Salvi says during a recession, the government should not be overtaxing the American people.

She also says her plan to curb inflation would be to make the U.S more energy independent by producing more oil and natural gas here. Gryder continued saying the bill is just another spending plan that will hurt Americans and hopes that the House will vote the bill down.
