Mendota’s having its 75th Sweetcorn Festival this year. Mendota Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Shelby Weide says to mark the special anniversary festival queens of the past will be on stage Friday night. They’ll join past Chamber presidents and executive directors in the Sweetcorn Parade Sunday.

This year’s sweet corn–eight tons of it–is coming from Country Kids Produce in Peru. Weide says a steam engine apparatus will provide the heat to cook it. The sweet corn will be served starting at 2pm Sunday. It could take around three hours. And since it’s free, the line will be long.

Around the time that’s done, there will be a prize drawing and a few other events to end the event.
