LaSalle residents feedback eliminates one route for LaSalle Link project

Ameren Illinois Spokesperson Kim Gross says one of the alternative routes for the LaSalle Link project will not be considered after receiving feedback from residents in LaSalle. A route on a map that residents were against would have gone along U.S 6.

But the two routes left are still an issue because they go through Rotary Park. Mayor Jeff Grove says he prefers a route that goes west behind the entrance of the park. City Engineer Brian Brown says he prefers the route that goes in front of the park.

You can find a link to the map and more information about the project by clicking here. The route that won’t be considered is highlighted purple. The two alternative routes that are being considered are highlighted in blue and orange. Brown says the city will discuss which of the two is the least worst to affect the park. It could also include combining the two routes at different points. The LaSalle link project will build a third 138,000 kilovolt transmission line to connect the Corbin electric substation in Oglesby to the North Utica electric substation. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.
