Yesterday on WCMY, we broadcasted live from Pine Hills Golf Course for the 9th Annual Junior Tournament. Here are the some of the results from yesterday’s event:
For the 3rd grade and younger 4 hole contest
Deken (DEACON DOHTY) Doty placed 1st, Hugh Piercy finished 2nd, Lucas Cottingham and Dominic Granados tied for 3rd
In the 4th-6th grade boys division
Liam Doty took 1st, Grady Novotny placed 2nd, Jacob Flavin & Keith Piercy tied for 3rd.
Aubree Kovash won in the girls division
For the Junior High boys
Joshua Armstrong finished 1st, Brennen Stillwell placed 2nd, Riley Schuman ended the day in 3rd
For the Girls
Delani Duggan took 1st place, Brinley Torres placed 2nd, Lillian Pollnow finished 3rd
In the Junior Varsity Division
Bryer Harris placed 1st, Wyatt Novotny and Jacob Armstrong tied for 2nd.
For the girls, Marlie Orlandi finished in 1st place, and Payton Bruck was 2nd.
In the Varsity Division
Jonathon Cooper was the winner, Drake Kaufman took 2nd place and Matthew Sims finished 3rd.
For the Varsity Girls
Libby Larkin clinched 1st place, Kiley Torres placed 2nd and Gianna Grivetti ended the day in 3rd place.

Also yesterday on WCMY, Jose Abreu homered as the White Sox took down the Royals 4-1 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Lance Lynn gave up just one run over six innings to earn the win for the South-Siders. The Sox are 53-and-51, and they trail the Twins by two games in the AL Central race.
Last night’s scheduled game between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals was suspended because of the threat of inclement weather. The game will be made up today as part of a split doubleheader. Marcus Stroman starts the first game for the North-Siders, Miles Mikolas will take the mound for the Cards.
The NFL returns tonight for the first game of the preseason. The Jacksonville Jaguars are taking on the Las Vegas Raiders in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. The Jaguars are coming off a 3-and-14 season that concluded with them being awarded the number one pick in the draft. The Raiders finished last year 10-and-7 before losing in the Wild Card round to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Over in the PGA, Kevin Kisner will be looking to defend his title at this weekend’s Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Other golf news, Phil Mickelson and a handful of other pro golfers are suing the PGA over their suspensions for participating in the rival LIV tour. The golfers filed an antitrust lawsuit Wednesday challenging their PGA suspension that kept them out of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The Saudi-funded LIV Golf League is giving pro-golfers big signing bonuses to play in its new league.
The Chicago Blackhawks announced yesterday that they will play one of their preseason games in Wisconsin this year. The Hawks will play the Minnesota Wild in Milwaukee on October 2nd. The contest will be the first NHL game played in Milwaukee since 1993.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are honoring Vin Scully with commemorative jersey patches following the death of the legendary broadcaster. For the rest of the season, the team will wear the black patch featuring a microphone and the word “Vin.” Scully died Tuesday night at the age of 94.
