A Joliet man facing attempted murder charges for shooting a Grundy County deputy last year has been moved from the Kendall County jail to the LaSalle County jail. Nineteen year old Demarcus Denwiddie may be just over two months from having his trial. In court last week, a Grundy County judge set a final pre-trial date of October 6th without scheduling a definite trial date.

Denwiddie is accused of trying to get away when a deputy tried to stop him near Mazon in October, crashing his car, shooting three times, and holing up in an apartment until his arrest. The deputy’s protective vest took two of the bullets and his forearm took one. Denwiddie was also hurt in the encounter. His bond was set at $10 million.
