Dylan Cease tossed another gem to lead the White Sox past the Cleveland Guardians 6-3 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Cease struck out four in six scoreless innings to pick up his tenth win. The Sox scored five runs in the second inning and never looked back as Leury Garcia, AJ Pollock, and Eloy Jimenez all went deep. The Southsiders improve to 48-and-48 and will visit the Rockies tomorrow night.
In other team news, The Sox placed Luis Robert on the 10-day injured list due to blurred vision over the weekend and legendary Outfielder Minnie Minoso was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday. The nine-time All-Star spent 12 seasons with the White Sox.
The Cubs held off Philadelphia’s eighth inning rally to beat the Phillies 4-3 at Citizens Bank Park. Drew Smyly earned his third win after giving up just one earned run and one unearned run in six innings, and David Robertson picked up his 14th save. Yan Gomes hit two home runs in the win, while Nelson Velazquez also went deep. The 38-and-57 Cubs send Adrian Sampson to the mound against the Pirate tonight.
The St. Louis Cardinals gave up four third-inning runs in their 6-3 loss to the Reds at Great American Ball Park. Miles Mikolas was charged with his eighth loss after surrendering six runs in five innings of work. Paul Goldschmidt homered twice in the losing effort.
The Cards head to Toronto tomorrow and will be without first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and third baseman Nolan Arenado, both will miss the series because they are unvaccinated against COVID-19. Canada requires COVID vaccines for anyone entering the country. Catcher Austin Romine is also unvaccinated and will miss the series.
The Chicago Fire are on a three-match winning streak following a 3-1 win over Vancouver in Major League Soccer. The Fire are in ninth place and will take on Atlanta this Saturday.
In the WNBA, The Chicago Sky gave up three free throws in the final ten seconds of their 83-80 loss to the New York Liberty at Barclays Center on Saturday. The Sky remain in first place at 21-and-7 and will take on the Las Vegas Aces tomorrow night.
Over in the PGA, Tony Finau is celebrating a victory at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota after winning the 3M Open. Finau finished at 17 under par
Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch will not be keeping their first and second place status after the NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono. Hamlin and Busch were both disqualified after failing post-race inspection. Instead, original third place finisher Chase Elliott is being awarded with the win.

The Chicago Bears unveiled an alternate helmet for the 2022 season. The helmets will be all orange except for a navy blue “C” decal. The Bears will wear the helmets with their alternate orange jerseys on October 13th against Washington and on October 30th against Dallas.
The XFL announced Sunday that three new cities are joining the league: Las Vegas, Orlando and San Antonio. The teams take the place of New York, Los Angeles and Tampa Bay, which were the clubs with the lowest attendance during the 2020 season. In total, the XFL has eight teams with the rest coming from Houston, St. Louis, Seattle, Washington DC and Arlington.
