Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch Center has plenty of room for growth

The emergency services telecommunicators who work at the newly remodeled Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch Center have at least four times as much space to work in as they used to. If they high-fived or fist-bumped each other before, they barely had to move to do it. Now they would have to walk a few steps.

Executive Director Brandon Miller-Guss says up to four at a time were packed into a room of just 100 square feet. Even their temporary space during the remodeling of the former Peru police station was an improvement. Miller-Guss says the new space is oversize for now.

The IVRD handles police, fire, and ambulance calls for LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby, Spring Valley, Mendota, Earlville, and Utica.
