A 38-year old St. Charles woman claimed that a Yorkville man kidnapped her after Utica Police pulled her car over Tuesday afternoon. Police Chief Rodney Damron says the car driven by 39-year old Shawn G. Strahota apparently ran through a stop sign at the intersection of IL 178 and Dee Bennett Rd. After he calmed Strahota and the woman down, he says he noticed a fresh head injury to the woman’s face.

Strahota was given tickets for traffic violations but he could face more charges like domestic battery in Kendall County, where the alleged kidnapping happened. He was later taken back to Kendall County by four police officers from the St. Charles Police Department. As of Wednesday morning, he has not been charged. The woman was treated at St. Margaret’s Health in Peru. Damron says he’s glad to get the woman out of harm’s way. He also says that a message about the kidnapping was in the process before the traffic stop.
