The former Maytag building at 801 to 805 First St. in LaSalle is a danger to pedestrians. City Hall says developer CL Enterprises will install scaffolding to make a tunnel for people to walk through on the sidewalk in case any bricks fall. A building inspector found leaning and cracked walls, some with loose bricks. But the inspector believes things aren’t so bad that they can’t be repaired. City Hall says CL Enterprises is cooperating and ordering the scaffolding. The city’s still waiting for the inspector’s report on the Kaskaskia Hotel, which the same developer is also working on.
